Started by John R. Dickinson, son of the founder of the group Mr. James H. Dickinson, in 1928 with the construction of South Africa 's first Blast Furnace at Iscor Pretoria. Refractory Installation Division specializes in the installation, repair and maintenance of refractory linings across the complete range of refractory consuming industries and furnace designs including, Cement & Lime, Ceramic, Glass, Ferro and Non-Ferrous, Chemical & Petrochemical, Paper & Pulp and Power Generation.
The division manages the turnkey refractory projects and services of The Dickinson Group and has executed the installation of refractory materials to numerous initial construction and furnace rebuild projects throughout Africa and the Middle East including: South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Mozambique, Zambia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nigeria, Niger, Senegal and Middle East. Refractory Installation Division also provides project and construction management services on furnace rebuild projects encompassing; salamander tapping, decommissioning, wrecking and refractory installation, civil, electrical, mechanical fabrication & erection works and furnace commissioning.
